BRUSH

Georges has collaborated with Berlin based sound artist and Max/MSP programmer Marco Accardi on projects exploring the interaction between live performance, electronic systems and algorithmic composition.

A central part of their collaboration has been Brush, a piece developed by Accardi as a member of the MiniM Ensemble (Palermo), in which a computer programme composes music in real time. Together, they adapted the work so that a live performer could interact with and perform the computer generated composition in real time. They have performed the piece together on several occasions.

Their collaboration has also focused on contemporary works for solo violin and live electronics. Among these was Double Bind by Unsuk Chin, for which the original setup uses a gyroscope based system developed at IRCAM to translate the movements of the instrument into electronic sound. For their own version, Georges and Accardi replaced this specialised system with the gyroscope built into a standard smartphone. Their version was performed at the Biennale in Koper, Slovenia, in 2018.
